INSTALLATION
N.B. DO NOT CONNECT THE GPS RECEIVER PRIOR TO HAVING CARRIED OUT A TRIAL TEST WITH THE APPROPRIATE LED MODULE, AS YOU
COULD DAMAGE YOUR INSTRUMENT PANEL.
Connecting LapTronic is very simple thanks to the connection table displayed on the reverse of this page. LapTronic comprises of an interface module and a receiver module, carry
out connections between the interface and the original motorbike dashboard panel as described in the table, and on finishing make sure that all connections have been isolated. Before
connecting the receiver module to the interface carry out the test phase with the appropriate led module present in the box. In order to test the connections, connect the led module to
the interface, switch on the motorbike and press the button which usually turns on the chronometer on the dashboard and verify that the led every time it is SWITCHED OFF. The
led is on and when you push the button is switched off, if this does not happen check all connections and try again. Do not connect the GPS receiver until the test phase has been
successfully completed.
The button module must be place in a easy access place. The receiver must be fixed with the supplied adhesive, perfectly horizontal and facing upwards with a clear and
unobstructed view, for this reason when it is installed on road motorbikes it is advisable to install the receiver on the tail of the motorcycle. It's NOT ADVISABLE to use the petrol
tank as the view could be obstructed by the rider while riding, the same can be said for the lateral side of the front fairing because, while taking very sharp bends with the motorcycle
inclined, the receiver visibility would be reduced causing incorrect readings.
FUNCTIONING
When switching on the device, the led on the upper part of the button module indicates whether it is picking up the signal transmitted by the antenna. In case the led will not power on
switch off the ignition of the bike, disconnect the gps receiver and check all the cables:
- Red led: Module on and the signal which is being received is not strong enough to locate the position. If a long period of time has passed or if you have travelled several kilometres
from the place you last switched on the device, you have to wait up to 4-5 minutes to receive a signal; otherwise the receiver will only take a few seconds to locate the position. If the
led does not change colour, position the receiver in a less restricted area.
- Red/green led: satellites signal reception. It is now possible to store your destination. Such coordinates will be kept stored until subsequent memorisation, even in the event of battery
replacement.
- Green led: the position which has been detected is within 6km from the coordinates of the previously stored destination; in this case there is no need to store the destination again as
it is already memorized.
To be able to reveal the lap times you must set your dash, enter the menu and set LAP MODE, refers to motorcycle's instruction manual.
Storage of finish line: press the “SET” button on the upper part of the device in the location where one wants to store the destination, the flashing green led will mean that your
selection has been confirmed and at the same moment the session will begin in the device to which the receiver is connected. This operation must be performed at a higher speed
of 20Km / h - 13 Mp/h.
Fix the entire length of the sensor cable, make sure that the cable is not under tension when using the device, connect the sensor cable to the (TIME) jack connector of the appliance.
