Power restriction in lower gears

Beitragvon Nigel » 22.01.2010, 12:05

Superbike magazine has put the bike on the dyno and did a full gear run in each gear. This is what they found:

"Just read this months superbike. When they dyno the bike in all gears, in sport mode full power was only in the last three gears, 184.6 bhp. In first looking at the graph was 147 bhp, second was 170 bhp and third was 178 bhp. In race/slick, first was 154 bhp, second was 172 and full power in the rest. In rain mode it was first 130 bhp, second 138 bhp and the rest was 144 bhp. Quote from superbike mag "the engineers we spoke to, who have experience with the bike, drew sharp intakes of breath and warned us to be really careful when tapping into the bike because it's clever enough to know what you are doing to it and sensitive enough to be upset by it"

This is interesting but I hate this kind of thing. The old Suzukis (pre-sling and slingshot) used to be like this.

Well, the good thing is, that this are electronical restrictions.
The bad thing, I don't know anybody to crack this. May be AR or STC could be the right contact.

I am not sure how accurate a measurement is if you crack the throtle in first or second gear. I would expect that you have much more slip compared to the higher gears. Any people with a dyno here? :?:
